A bite plate is an appliance, that is used in orthodontic treatments to correct some disorders. For oral talk, anterior means “front” and posterior means “back”.  So an anterior bite plate is an appliance or device which is used to treat a deep bite of frontal teeth sequence. A deep bite may occur when the upper front (anterior) teeth dramatically overlap the lower front teeth. It is an orthodontic problem.  An unopposed tooth will keep erupting till it contacts with another surface, so this device holds the anterior teeth, or shortly anteriors, while allowing the posteriors to erupt.  These devices can be both removable or fixed. Fixed means, the patient caries the device in mouth until the orthodontist decides to finish the treatment. An it can only be removed by the orthodontist.  An acrylic shelf which is built into a maxillary plate in the anterior area, where the contact to the mandibular anteriors will occur, will hold the bite open in the posterior region. This will cause the posterior teeth to erupt and open a deep bite. That will solve the deep bite problem.
