Listen To Your Mouth
If your teeth could simply talk, they would say something really important to you. So, let’s hear what they murmur.
Teeth May Indicate Something
When you take a dental exam from your dentist, or just use a mirror to take a close look at your teeth, they may be talking about some signs of bigger problems. Your front teeth may be very white, for instance. But you shouldn’t be mistaken with this. Because many oral problems could be unseen. Do not get dazzled with bright white.
Worn, flattened surfaces of your back molar tops may indicate stress-related grinding. This should be taken serious. And back of your upper teeth may be worn by stomach acid. Watch the enamel here. They could be talking about bulimia.
And Gums…
Gums are good indicators too. If you are pregnant, red, puffy and inflared gums are common. You are not alone. But if you are not pregnant and having the same problem, you should see your dentist. Tiny red haemorrhages with spontaneous bleeding may indicate leukemia. Dangerous right? Pulled away gums are common indicators of periodontal disease and may indicate diabetes, cardiovascular problems and respiratory diseases.
Inside Your Mouth
Our tongue is precious. But when it is flat and extra ordinarily smooth, it may indicate iron-deficiency anaemia. Dark red patches on the underside of tongue may show us pernicious anaemia, which is a vitamin B12 deficiency. Strawberry textured tongue with red bumps may point to Kawasaki disease, that is inflammation of blood vessels. Also tongue nodules and ulcerations are an early sign of sarcoidosis, an inflammation of the organs. Dry mouth is also a side-effect of many diseases but it may also indicate diabetes or autoimmune disesaes.
